Fasteners - Breakstem Rivets T-Lok® Rivet (Non-Structural)
The T-Lok® rivet is a steel, non-structural breakstem rivet with "peel type" tail formation. "Peel type" tail formation means the rivet body splits open when the rivet mandrel is pulled into the rivet during installation. The rivet body of the T-Lok® rivet splits into four legs, which dig into the application material. This action pulls the head of the rivet firmly against the application top sheet and secures the rivet in place so it won't loosen in the application. The splitting action of the rivet body prevents radial expansion of the rivet body into the application hole. This allows the application materials to be clamped together as much as possible. Additionally, the rivet body will split as much or as little as necessary to clamp the application material together. This allows the T-Lok® rivet to accomodate wide variations in material thickness and makes it suitable to a variety of applications. The T-Lok® rivet is intended for joining metal to wood, board or low density plastic and is most often applied in blind holes.
