Fasteners - Breakstem Rivets Stavex® (Non-Structural)
The Stavex® rivet (available in steel or stainless steel construction) is a multi-grip, hole filling, non-structural breakstem rivet with exceptional features and performance. Multi-grip means the rivet has the capability to join component parts having a broad range of thicknesses, thus reducing inventory where a variety of rivet sizes might otherwise be necessary. The multi-grip feature is an extension in large part of the excellent bulbing tail formation on the application blind side. Depending on the thickness of the application, the tail of the rivet body will collapse into one, two or three bulbs. This not only allows the Stavex® rivet to accomodate varying application thicknesses, but creates a load bearing surface, which absorbs the force of setting the rivet. Otherwise the setting force, or clamp load, could spread into the application material and might damage the material. Hole filling means the rivet will expand radially into the application hole to provide a strong, vibration resistant joint and compensate for irregular, oversized, slotted or misaligned holes. Also, it can stop sheet movement in applications with non-standard holes. The Stavex® rivet relies on the combination of multi-grip, hole filling properties and excellent bulbing tail formation to create an extremely strong joint. This makes the Stavex® rivet ideal for use in thin sheet, soft, brittle and low strength materials, as well as resulting in high resistance to pull-out loads. While it is always recommended that application thickness and hole size meet the specified ranges, properties of the Stavex® rivet allow it to accomodate applications slightly outside those dimensions.
