Description

Multi-grip means the rivet has the capability to join component parts having a broad range of thicknesses, thus reducing inventory where a variety of rivet sizes might otherwise be necessary. The longest NeoSpeed® rivet in 3/16" diameter covers an enormous grip range from .024" - .362" and replaces several standard grip fasteners.

Hole filling means the rivet will expand radially into the application hole to provide a strong, vibration resistant joint and compensate for irregular, oversized, slotted or misaligned holes. Since NeoSpeed® rivets offer a 3 time greater hole size tolerance than standard breakstem rivets, they are far less sensitive to application variations. The unique, patent pending hole-filling external splines fill rear sheet and oversize front sheet holes and accommodate and fill misaligned holes with the result of improved assembly quality. Additionally, the NeoSpeed® range offers higher tensile strength than other multi-grip breakstem rivets and better than average shear strength which is independent of the grip. .

Speed fasteners are placed using a unique repetition mandrel system. Rivets are loaded into specialist tooling and, during placement, the tool pulls the mandrel through the rivet giving both axial and radial expansion (providing clamp and hole fill). At the end of each cycle the next rivet is automatically delivered to the nose piece ready for placement. For large volume applications the fasteners can be bowl fed using automated equipment which gives continuous feed with cycle times as low as 1.5 seconds.
