Description

The Eurosert® insert (offered in metric sizes only) is a bubbling insert with steel construction and offered with splines or plain body and low profile or large flange head style. Bubbling means that during the installation process, the insert collapses into a bubble shape on the backside of the application material. The application material is clamped between the flange of the insert and the bubble shape resulting in high resistance to pull-out loads. Because the insert forms a bubble on the backside of the application, the Eurosert® insert cannot be used in blind hole applications.

The bubble also serves as a load bearing surface, which absorbs the force of setting the insert. Otherwise the setting force, or clamp load, could spread into the application material and might damage the material. This makes the Eurosert® insert ideal for use in thin sheet, soft, brittle and low strength materials.

The underhead splines of the splined option of the Eurosert® insert press into the application material during the installation process. Splined inserts are 50% less likely to turn in the application hole compared to plain body inserts. Splined inserts are ideal for soft materials such as aluminium, magnesium and plastics, where plain body inserts might otherwise fail. The splines also improve electrical continuity in sheet metal applications and electrical assemblies. The low profile flange option of the Eurosert® insert results in near flush installation and clamp, while the large flange option provides a large load bearing surface, reinforces the application hole and prevents push through.

Advantages
  • Can be used in very thin sheet materials from 0.25mm (0.01")
  • Double diameter body and lead-in chamfer provide easy insertion into hole
  • Access needed from only one side of the application, for high speed assembly
  • Provide a female thread in application
  • Can be installed in pre-coated or post painted applications without damaging the surface
  • Clamp two or more sheets
  • Various platings available to increase corrosion resistance
  • Splined body improves torque-to-turn by up to 50% in soft materials compared to plain body inserts and improve electrical continuity in sheet metal fixings
  • Low profile head allows near flush fit to application and clamps two or more sheets of material together, within the grip range
  • Large flange head provides a load bearing surface and reinforces the hole to prevent push-out. Can be used as a spacer and can be supplied with an underhead seal.
  • Can be used with hand tools, pneumatic tools and fully automated machines to suit a wide range of assembly methods
