Fasteners: Speed FastenersAvsert®
Description
The Avsert® fastening system is designed to serve as a stand-off pillar
for PCBs. It is available with M2.5 or M3 internal threads and many stand-off
heights to accomodate a variety of components. The internally threaded bore
of the Avsert® rivet takes a threaded part such as D-subminiature connectors.
Grooves on the spigot of the Avsert® rivet allow for the stress relief,
thus eliminating the cracking of brittle application material.
The Avsert® fastening system is made from brass with a trivalent tin dipped coating, which allows it to accept solder. Due to the precise design of the Avsert® fastening system the application parameters must meet the specified ranges to ensure proper installation and performance.
Speed fasteners are placed using a unique repetition mandrel system. Rivets
are loaded into specialist tooling and, during placement, the tool pulls
the mandrel through the rivet giving both axial and radial expansion (providing
clamp and hole fill). At the end of each cycle the next rivet is automatically
delivered to the nose piece ready for placement. For large volume applications
the fasteners can be bowl fed using automated equipment which gives continuous
feed with cycle times as low as 1.5 seconds.
Typical Applications
Installation ToolsPart numbers are listed in order of base tool (no nose equipment), nose assembly, mandrel, spring. There are no complete tool numbers that include nose equipment. All items must be specified separately.
